Grandma Phyllis turned 80 years old last week…and even though she wants no attention at all, it just so happens that my cousin’s husband Jon was coaching in Ankeny this weekend so it gave us all an excuse to get together!
We met at Palmer’s Deli and ate food and watched kids run around and handed out gifts! We got Grandma some beautiful flowers, all the kids drew her pictures and we gave her a jar of 100 memories! Each of us cousins wrote about 15 memories of grandma, we tore them into individual pieces, folded them and put them in a jar! She can pull them out one at a time for some really great memories! I think she actually LOVED it! And to be honest – all of us cousins loved reading it even more, I think!
I tried very hard to take a picture of all the great grandchildren (ranging from 7 months old to 9 years old) but it didn’t work. At all. Which is kind of funny, actually. But here are a few pictures from the night!
And of course, at game time, Guthrey sat down, unzipped his coat – and OUT CAME THE SWEATER.
See other appearances of the sweater here, here, and here. I love that G is willing to do anything for a good joke. And I love that Jenny is such a good sport. And Lord, do I love that sweater.
